The Why Cafe
This weekend i had the pleasure of reading a book, by John Strelecky called The Why Are You Here Cafe.
It is a reasonable short book but none-the-less very thought provoking indeed. If you feel that you are at some kind of a crossroad on your journey of life and you are looking for happiness when happiness is the way then i feel you will enjoy this book greatly. It is simple yet profound and as most things in life, where there is subtlety and ease of choice it is usually the hardest choice to make.

Which John based on his 70,000 mile trip (3 times the circumference of the earth) over a nine month period where he & his wife backpacked using a combination of horse, boat, elephant, bicycle as well as other modes of transport.
John also has a site which is asking for a minimal donation of just $1 as part of a non-profit organization he founded called ‘Inspire Two Million’. Have a look at the website www.inspire2million.com

Three Cups Of Tea

Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time
One person can change the world, as Greg Mortenson, author of the inspiring book, Three Cups Of Tea would attest.
After a failed attempt to climb Pakistan’s K2, the world’s second highest mountain, Mortenson became lost during his descent. Two Balti porters found him and brought him to a village where locals nursed him back to health. It was there, and after witnessing a group of Pakistani children scratch their arithmetic lessons in the sand with sticks, where Mortenson promised to return to build a school in their impoverished village.
After surviving an armed kidnapping in Waziristan, fatwas issued by enraged mullahs, and repeated death threats, Mortenson established the nonprofit Central Asia Institute which, over twelve years, has helped build 55 schools and educate over 25,000 children (mainly girls) in war-torn Pakistan and Afghanistan.
If this book, doesn’t make you want to get off your hiney and build a school, save a child, give money to something somewhere, we don’t know what will. If nothing else, this book certainly convinced us that the act of helping change minds is one hell of an adventure.

Simple.ology Mark Joyner
Well it has certainly been a while and though not intentionally i have had time out. I hope to keep those of you who enjoy my blog informed and on the path to a better life.
Today I want to draw your attention to Mark Joyner and his work. I was writing a review for his most recent book which will be in this week’s newsletter, so if you’d like to sign up click on the link to my site in the right hand corner to sign up.
Well… as i was away from my computer each time i was reading the book i was unable to part take in all the added extra’s Mark is giving away for free.
So as i have now downloaded and started taking part in his Simple.ology 101 course i wanted to share it with you all. Basically from my present understanding, along with helpful tools you have exercises on “The Simple Science of Getting What You Want” It does have a coaching feel to it, but as i say i have only started today and so thought i’d share my discovery so-to-speak.
There are downloadable programs with useful prompts from brain/neural exercises, and keeping on track with must do’s and a lot more.
If it sounds like it could be of interest, have a look at Mark Joyner’s Simpleology 101 and the Web Cockpit
Enjoy

Learned Helplessness
This Saturday i attended Michael Neill’s seminar promoting his new book, which infact i have written a review for already for my upcoming newsletter due out on Wednesday.
The seminar went well and we had a variety of techniques to try out with positive effects and of course the opportunity to ask questions. The question I asked Michael, which I want to share with you here today, was; “why do people choose to not apply the techniques they learn or know of, that can change the way they feel?”
Simply put, Michael explained a few points which were relevant, but the two most important comments, were that people may wish to feel bad and that is their choice and known as learned helplessness, perhaps they are getting their needs met but sulking through the sympathy of others.
And… secondly because they have maybe tried things in the past that didn’t work and therefore they don’t want to be dissapointed again and would rather not have a go at something new incase it doesn’t produce the expected results.
My couple of additional comments would be this: a) most of us don’t actually realise the more profound effects feeling good actually has on the physical body, from anti aging, to accelerated healing and memory improvement to name a few, and b) because we don’t make the time to create a new habit, nor do we note down what we could do to create these states and so we forget to do them.
My advise is, to get into the practise of feeling good you can double it up with going to the toilet. Most of the techniques are quick and what better place do you have time to yourself and are probably not too mentally occupied to not spare a thought for improving the way you feel.
If this sounds interesting and you would like to see more information on the subject, please click on the link above right to my website now and subscribe to my newsletter, where i will be giving a lot more details about the subject.
